Career Summary

• Dr. Alkan is an Associate Professor of Urology at Yeditepe University Kozyatağı Hospital. He completed his medical education at Ege University and his urology residency at Marmara University, Department of Urology. Dr. Alkan received the title of Fellow of European Board of Urology (FEBU) in May 2001. He continued his education at the UCL Institute of Urology and Nephrology in London with the European Urology Scholarship Program (EUSP). Later, Dr. Alkan worked with Dr. Janetschek as an EUSP fellow in Laparoscopic Urology and Endourology at Krankenhaus der Elisabethinen in Linz.
• Dr. Alkan's main areas of academic and clinical interest are Minimally Invasive and Laparoscopic Urological surgery. In 2002, Dr. Alkan performed HoLEP operations in the surgical treatment of BPH for the first time in Turkey. His team published the long-term results of HoLEP surgery. This publication is the first international publication on HoLEP surgery from Turkey. Currently, he is interested in robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery based on his work in laparoscopic surgery.
