Nose Surgery Without Tampon Is Possible

Thanks to new nose surgery techniques, bleeding is stopped by suturing instead of tamponade.

One in two people cannot breathe through their nose because of problems such as nasal bone curvature, adenoid size, or sinusitis. People who are afraid of tampons are avoiding surgery for treatment. Stating that nose surgeries can be performed without tampons in health problems as well as aesthetic needs in recent years, Yeditepe University Hospitals ENT Diseases, Head and Neck Surgery Specialist said, "Replacing the tampon used in nose surgeries with the suture technique provides comfort to patients. The method, which can be easily applied to people of all ages with daily surgery, is especially important for those in the advanced age group."

Our specialist stated that the tampon was used to facilitate the union of the tissues and to prevent bleeding after the nose surgeries and that the surgeries performed with methods that do not require the use of tampons added to the quality of life of the patient as follows:

  • They can return home about 5-6 hours after the procedure.
  • They can breathe easily through their nose from the moment they come out of surgery.
  • Since they can breathe through their nose, there is no irritation in their throat.
  • There is no problem with their ears or swallowing.
  • They can eat easily.
  • There is no bruising on the face, swelling, irritation, or pain in the eyes.
  • They sleep much better at night.
  • The next day, they can start their daily life.
